Are you ready to develop your career in Construction underwriting and work on a diverse range of domestic and international risks? 

We’re looking for an Underwriter Construction to join our Benelux Construction team. You’ll combine technical insight with commercial thinking to assess risks, build strong relationships and develop solutions that help our customers move forward with confidence. 

You’ll manage your own portfolio while working closely with brokers, customers and colleagues across Zurich. 

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Zaventem, Belgium. 

What you’ll do 

As an Underwriter Construction, you’ll help develop and manage Zurich’s Construction portfolio across the Benelux, covering both domestic and international business. 

You will: 

• Develop and manage a portfolio of Construction insurance business. 

• Assess construction risks and use technical information, data and commercial insights to make sound underwriting decisions. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers, service providers and colleagues. 

• Manage your underwriting activities and portfolio from start to finish. 

• Identify opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and develop new business in line with Zurich’s underwriting strategy. 

• Collaborate with specialists across different disciplines to develop effective solutions for customers. 

• Build your Construction insurance expertise and share knowledge across the team. 

• Contribute to continuous improvement and the success of the wider Benelux team. 

What you bring: 

• A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience, ideally in a technical or related field. 

• Relevant experience in Construction insurance, underwriting, risk engineering or a related area. 

• A good understanding of construction risks, processes, methods and project execution. 

• Professional fluency in Dutch and English. 

• Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills. 

• A collaborative and proactive approach, with an interest in developing your expertise and contributing to the business. 

Experience with complex commercial, infrastructure, industrial construction or renewable energy projects would be an advantage. International Construction insurance experience and knowledge of French are also welcome.
